According to the reports on Wednesday (26 February), Following appeals from Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla and awareness campaigns by security forces, residents have begun surrendering illegally held weapons. On Tuesday (25 February), 87 weapons were handed over in districts including Churachandpur, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Kangpokpi, Jiribam, and Imphal West. Security forces also conducted search operations in vulnerable areas to recover illegal arms and explosives.

During these operations, authorities discovered and destroyed multiple explosives, including IEDs and improvised mortars, in Tengnoupal District. These recoveries highlight ongoing efforts to curb the presence of illegal weaponry in the region. The collaborative approach between the police, Assam Rifles, and CRPF has played a crucial role in ensuring security.

Meanwhile, Indian Army DGMO Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai visited Manipur to assess the security situation along the Indo-Myanmar Border. His visit focused on operational preparedness and ongoing border infrastructure developments. He also met with key state officials, including the Governor, State Security Advisor, and Director General of Police, to discuss strategic security measures.

Lieutenant General Ghai emphasized a “whole of Government approach” to stabilize the region. Discussions centered on improving border management and strengthening security infrastructure to prevent future conflicts. His visit underscored the importance of collaboration between the military and state officials in restoring peace and ensuring the welfare of Manipur’s residents.
