On Thursday (22 August), Delhi Police, in collaboration with police forces from Jharkhand, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh, dismantled a terror module allegedly inspired by al Qaeda. The multi-state operation led to the arrest of 14 individuals linked to the group, which was reportedly planning to carry out a series of high-profile terrorist activities aimed at establishing a ‘Khilafat’ within India.

The operation was initiated following critical intelligence inputs that revealed the module’s intentions and the locations of its members. According to a statement from the Delhi Police, the terror cell was being led by Dr. Ishtiyaq from Ranchi, Jharkhand. The group had aspirations to declare a ‘Khilafat’ and execute significant terrorist activities across the country.

During the crackdown, six suspects were apprehended in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan, where they were reportedly undergoing weapons training. An additional eight individuals were arrested from Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh, and are currently undergoing further questioning. Police recovered a cache of arms, ammunition, and literature linked to terrorist activities during the raids.

The operation underscored the importance of inter-state collaboration in combating terrorism, as the combined efforts of multiple police forces played a critical role in neutralizing the threat. Delhi Police officials have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, with further arrests anticipated as raids continue across different states.

This operation marks a significant achievement in the fight against terrorism, reflecting the authorities’ commitment to maintaining national security.
