According to the reports on Tuesday (29 April), a week after the deadly Pahalgam attack, a high alert has been declared across much of Kashmir due to fears of a similar assault. Out of the 87 popular tourist destinations in the region, 48 have been shut down as a precaution. Intelligence sources have indicated that Pakistani terrorists, with support from sleeper cells already operating in Kashmir, are planning another Pahalgam-style attack.
The Indian intelligence department has intercepted communications between Pakistani terrorists and sleeper cell operatives within Kashmir. These exchanges suggest a well-planned conspiracy by Pakistan’s ISI aimed at avoiding direct retaliation from India while continuing to destabilize the region. The closure of key tourist spots is part of the Indian government’s effort to prevent another attack.
Reports reveal that the main targets of the planned attacks are tourists, especially non-Muslims, and Indian Army personnel. Local terrorist support networks and sleeper cells are being activated to carry out these assaults. The strategy mirrors the planning and execution seen in the Pahalgam attack, raising serious concerns about recurring threats.
Additionally, the ISI-backed plot includes targeting foreign workers, missing Kashmiri Pandits returning to the region, and even trains connecting to Kashmir. Intelligence suggests that the districts of Srinagar and Ganderbal are the focal points of this conspiracy. India remains on high alert, as security forces continue efforts to thwart any further attempts at violence.
