According to the reports on Friday (8 November), Two Village Defence Guards (VDGs), Nazir Ahmed and Kuldeep Kumar, were abducted and killed by terrorists while grazing cattle in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district, officials reported. Their bodies were later discovered in the Munzla Dhar forest after images circulated on social media, confirming their identities. The gruesome event prompted the Sanatan Dharam Sabha to call for a complete bandh across Kishtwar in protest against the killings.
Following the incident, a massive joint search operation was launched by the police and Army in the dense forest region. Security forces scoured the area, aiming to track down the perpetrators of this violent act. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, along with other key political figures, expressed strong condemnation of the attack, calling it a cowardly and brutal act of terror.
The Kashmir Tigers, a group linked to Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad, claimed responsibility for the killings, sharing photos of the victims with their eyes blindfolded. This act has heightened security concerns in the region, as both the government and local leaders voiced their resolve to fight and dismantle terror organizations responsible for such attacks. In response, Sinha emphasized his commitment to avenging the deaths and protecting citizens from terrorist threats.
This tragedy has added to the grief of Kumar’s family, who had recently lost their father. Residents expressed deep sorrow and fear as tensions mounted across Kishtwar. Political leaders from the National Conference, People’s Democratic Party, Congress, and BJP joined in condemning the incident, stressing the need for unity and vigilance to counter the ongoing threat of terrorism in the region.
