As of 25 January 2023, following a landslide that collapsed pavement and imperiled numerous old-growth redwood trees, a major route that runs through the center of Humboldt Redwoods State Park in far Northern California has been blocked “for weeks or longer.”
Heavy rainfall and a slew of recent earthquakes around the North Coast may have contributed to the landslide.
People are advised to avoid moving toward the area until it is declared safe by the authorities.
