In the early hours of Sunday (27 March), a landslide struck Sikkim’s Sokpay hamlet in Gangtok, severely damaging the National Highway along the Dikchu-Rakdong Route.

Information indicates that the landslip affected 18 families and entirely ruined four homes.

About 15 to 20 families who lived close to the two destroyed houses have been evacuated by the local government. Up to four animals perished in the landslip.

Nonetheless, there were no casualties noted.
