On Monday (30 January 2023) morning, the local authorities were compelled to shut down vehicle traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway due to shooting stones and mudslides between Chanderkot and Banihal.
The highway is the valley’s lifeline and the key road linking Kashmir to the rest of India.
