On Monday (12 August), the Nigerian Army reported that its troops successfully conducted a raid on an Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) enclave in the Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.
During the operation, five terrorists were killed, and a significant cache of weapons was recovered, including two rocket-propelled grenades (RPG) bombs, two Dane guns, one RPG bomb charger, an AK-47 rifle magazine, 23 rounds of 7.62 x 54 mm ammunition, six motorcycles, and assorted medication.
In addition to neutralizing the terrorists, the troops also captured several criminal suspects during other operations in the region.
The army further reported that sustained offensive operations have led to the surrender of 44 Boko Haram terrorists along with their families to troops stationed in Bama, Dikwa, and Gwoza Local Government Areas of Borno State.
The Nigerian military continues to intensify its efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and restore peace in the North East.
