Protesters vandalized the homes of former minister Amir Hossain Amu, former chief whip Abul Hasanat Abdullah, and ex-lawmaker Shafiqul Islam Shimul in Barishal and Natore early Thursday (6 February, local time). The demonstrations targeted political figures, with significant destruction reported in both districts.
At around 12:45 AM (local time), protesters used a bulldozer to demolish Abul Hasanat Abdullah’s residence on Kali Bari Road. They then moved to Amir Hossain Amu’s home on Bogura Road, breaking through the entrance and nearly destroying the entire structure.
In Natore, another group of demonstrators stormed Shafiqul Islam Shimul’s residence in the Kandivita area around midnight (local time). They set the house on fire while playing loud music and chanting anti-Awami League slogans before leaving in a procession at approximately 1 AM (local time).
Eyewitnesses reported that no law enforcement officers were present at any of the sites during the attacks. The incidents highlight rising tensions and unrest, with political figures becoming direct targets of public outrage.
