According to the reports on Monday (24 February), Pakistani security forces conducted two successful operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Dera Ismail Khan district, eliminating seven terrorists. The first operation took place in the Daraban area, where four militants were killed in an exchange of fire. In a second raid in the Maddi area, security personnel neutralized three more terrorists. Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants, who were actively involved in terrorist activities.
The military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), emphasized that sanitization operations are ongoing to eliminate any remaining threats. Pakistani security forces remain committed to eradicating terrorism and ensuring national security. These latest operations follow a similar intelligence-based mission in Karak district, where six terrorists were killed just days earlier.
In another major counterterrorism effort, security forces recently eliminated 30 terrorists in an intelligence-based operation in South Waziristan. Such operations are part of a broader effort to curb militant activities in the region. The ISPR reported that 2024 has been the deadliest year in a decade for security forces, with 685 personnel killed in 444 terror attacks.
According to a report by the Centre for Research and Security Studies, Pakistan’s security forces conducted nearly 60,000 operations in 2024. These operations resulted in the deaths of 925 terrorists while 383 officers and soldiers were martyred. Despite the high casualties, the military continues its efforts to eliminate terrorism from the country.
