On Tuesday night (09 May), social media services like YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook were suspended in various parts of Pakistan due to protests.

Following the arrest of former Prime Minister Imran Khan earlier in the day, police battled repeatedly with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party activists.

On Tuesday evening (09 May), protesters blocked roads, set fires, and even invaded military bases, prompting police to respond with tear gas and water cannons.
