Following heavy rainfall on Thursday (17 October), flood warnings were issued across Somerset. The Environment Agency (EA) has warned that flooding is expected in certain areas, urging residents to take immediate action to protect themselves and their property.
Specific warnings have been issued for the River Brue and Glastonbury Millstream, stretching from Lovington to Highbridge, as well as the River Sheppey. People in these areas have been advised to avoid low-lying roads and land more prone to flooding.
In addition to these warnings, several flood alerts have been announced across various river catchments. These include the River Tone, West Somerset Streams, Lower Tone, Parrett Moors, River Yeo, and River Chew catchment, among others.
Residents in the affected areas have been told to be prepared for possible flooding, as conditions may worsen. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, providing updates as necessary to ensure public safety.
