According to the reports on Thursday (12 December), Tamil Nadu is experiencing heavy rainfall and thunderstorms, leading to widespread school closures across the state. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert, warning of moderate rains and thunderstorms in several districts. In response, local authorities have declared holidays for educational institutions to ensure the safety of students.

Significant rainfall has been recorded in various parts of Tamil Nadu, disrupting daily life. Karaikal reported 8 cm of rain, while Adiramapattinam and Vriddhachalam also experienced heavy downpours. These weather conditions prompted swift preventive measures by district officials to minimize the potential impact on residents.

Districts such as Chennai, Villupuram, Thanjavur, and others have closed schools as a precautionary step. The District Collector of Thoothukudi declared a school holiday, prioritizing the well-being of students and their families amid the intense rainfall. These measures reflect the state’s proactive approach to handling adverse weather conditions.

Tamil Nadu’s government has demonstrated its commitment to public safety by closing schools and issuing timely alerts. The authorities remain vigilant as rains continue to affect the region, focusing on minimizing disruption and protecting residents from potential risks caused by severe weather.
