According to the reports on Saturday (27 September), Security forces in Kashmir are on high alert as terrorists remain stationed at launch pads across the Line of Control, waiting for an opportunity to infiltrate the valley. BSF Kashmir Frontier Inspector General Ashok Yadav confirmed that attempts to cross the border are common before the onset of winter when heavy snowfall restricts movement.
Yadav explained that infiltration efforts typically increase in the two months leading up to November, as terrorists seek to exploit the remaining window of favorable weather. He emphasized that despite these attempts, the vigilance of the forces makes it extremely difficult for infiltrators to succeed.
According to Yadav, terrorists are present at launch pads opposite the Bandipora and Kupwara sectors, often waiting for inclement weather to aid their movements. However, the tight security and continuous monitoring along the border leave little chance for them to breach the defenses.
The BSF and Army are working together to dominate the Line of Control using advanced surveillance technology and new methodologies. Yadav highlighted that their alertness has already resulted in the successful prevention of two infiltration attempts this year, ensuring the valley remains secure.
