Three terrorists affiliated with the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) were killed on Tuesday (13 May) in an encounter with security forces in the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir. The gunfight occurred in the Shukroo Keller area of south Kashmir, following a specific intelligence input about the presence of militants in the region.
Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area, which quickly escalated into an encounter after the terrorists opened fire. The forces retaliated, resulting in the deaths of all three terrorists. The identities of the slain militants have not yet been confirmed.
The operation, named Operation Keller, is part of a broader crackdown on militant activity in Jammu and Kashmir, especially following the deadly terror attacks in Pahalgam on April 22, which left 26 people dead and several others injured. The armed forces have intensified combing operations across South Kashmir and the Kishtwar region since then.
Meanwhile, in Pulwama district, posters have appeared announcing a reward of Rs 20 lakh for information about the terrorists responsible for the Pahalgam attack. These efforts are part of the ongoing drive to dismantle terrorist networks operating in the region and prevent further attacks.
