According to the reports on Monday (30 June), Russian forces launched a large-scale drone attack on Ukraine starting from the evening of Sunday (29 June, local time), involving 107 Shahed-type strike UAVs and various decoy drones. The assault targeted several regions, primarily Donetsk and Kharkiv oblasts, and was carried out from multiple directions, including Bryansk, Kursk, Millerovo, Prymorsko-Akhtarsk, and occupied Crimea.
Ukraine’s Air Force successfully repelled much of the attack, shooting down 74 drones by 09:00 the next morning. Of those, 64 were destroyed by direct fire, while 10 were neutralized through electronic warfare or disappeared from radar. Despite this strong defense, 15 drone strikes did hit Ukrainian territory.
Debris from some of the downed drones was reported to have fallen in at least two separate locations, though the extent of the damage was not fully detailed. Ukrainian forces responded using a combination of aircraft, mobile fire groups, and electronic warfare units to minimize the impact of the attack.
This assault highlights Russia’s continued reliance on drone warfare to pressure Ukrainian defenses and infrastructure. The coordinated attack across the northern, eastern, and southern regions demonstrates both the scale of the threat and Ukraine’s growing capabilities in countering aerial assaults.
