The Meteorological Department reports that on Tuesday, January 3, a significant multi-hazard storm zipped across the country. The storm increases the chances of powerful tornado and floodings in the South and brings ice and snow to the Plains and Upper Midwest. The storm would drag moisture from the Gulf of Mexico into the South, where above-average temperatures had created the ideal conditions for violent thunderstorms.
In addition to the possibility of tornadoes, in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Oklahoma the region may experience hail and strong dispersed wind gusts of up to 70 mph including a risk of flash floods in the areas.
