Worldwide protest in support of women and girls in Afghanistan

On Saturday, January 14, a global demonstration would be staged in support of the women and girls in Afghanistan and their right to education.

Millions of Afghan women who had achieved great progress over the previous 20 years had their aspirations and dreams dashed when the Taliban abruptly took over the country in August 2021.

The hard-line militant party has significantly reversed numerous advances, including closing most secondary schools for girls, prohibiting women from most forms of employment, and restricting women from participating in sports, despite promising to respect women’s rights.
