A serious incident occurred on the evening of Thursday (15 August) at Renmore Barracks in Galway, where an Army chaplain in his 50s was stabbed multiple times by a teenage boy. The attack took place at approximately 10:45 pm (local time) when the chaplain was approached by the youth outside the barracks. The confrontation escalated as the chaplain ran through the barracks gate, with the teenager in pursuit.
Local Gardaí, along with the Special Detective Unit of An Garda Síochána, were quickly involved in the investigation.
