British Airlines has cancelled almost 300 flights during the busy Easter travel season due to impending strike action at its London Heathrow (LHR) base.
Demand discussions between LHR management and airport security stagnated, and over 1,400 security personnel threatened to quit their jobs effective March 31.
The Unite Union, which represents numerous airport security personnel stationed at Heathrow’s Terminal 5, is the source of the industrial action.
The strikes are scheduled for March 31 through April 9.
16 short-haul daily return flights are among the five percent of the British airline’s regular daily schedule that will be cut.
