As per reports on Tuesday (25 February), Iran has heightened its defense measures around its nuclear and missile sites in anticipation of a potential attack by Israel and the United States. According to high-level government sources, the country has deployed additional air defense systems and is reinforcing its key nuclear facilities. The heightened alert comes amid growing concerns that Israel, with US backing, may target Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, especially after warnings from US intelligence regarding such a possibility this year.
The fortification of Iran’s nuclear sites has been ongoing for years, but efforts have intensified in recent months, particularly following Israel’s first attack on Iranian facilities. The Islamic Republic has increased its air defense capabilities with Russian S-300 systems and domestically developed defense systems. Despite these efforts, Iran fears that these defenses may not be sufficient against Israel’s advanced weaponry, prompting the regime to urge Russia to expedite the delivery of S-400 missile systems.
Additionally, Iran is working on developing its own ballistic missile defense systems, which are expected to be ready by March. General Amir Ali Hajizadeh of the IRGC announced the progress, highlighting the system’s capability to protect Tehran and other major cities. Iran has also been producing long-range missiles, capable of striking targets within a 2,000-kilometer radius, allowing it to retaliate against potential threats from the US.
The rising tension between Israel and Iran has been fueled by the shadow war between the two nations, with both sides engaging in proxy conflicts and direct strikes. With the support of former US President Donald Trump, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to “finish the job” of neutralizing Iran’s nuclear capabilities. However, analysts believe that Israel may not be able to carry out the attack without US involvement, particularly for intelligence and military support. As Iran seeks to revive the 2015 nuclear deal, diplomatic efforts remain stalled, with both sides holding firm on their demands.
