The runway of Eduardo Gomes International Airport in Tarum, Manaus’ West Zone, will be closed for eight hours every day beginning in September for maintenance.
The track prohibition will be in effect from 4 a.m. (local time) to 12 p.m. (local time) daily until January 2024.
The measure is the result of the airport’s infrastructure’s second phase of construction. The nearly 3 km of track will be resurfaced with new asphalt and signaling enhancements.
The Concessionária dos Aeroportos da Amazônia, which is in charge of the area, justified the work as necessary to ensure operability and increased security, preventing emergency closures like the one that occurred in March of this year, when the runway had to be closed for an entire day for maintenance.
