On Monday (30 January 2023), US President Joe Biden’s administration announced plans to end the twin COVID-19 national emergencies on May 11.

In 2020, the government of then-US President Donald Trump issued the COVID-19 national emergency and public health emergency (PHE). The current expiration dates for the two emergencies are March 1 and April 11, respectively. The US government intends to extend the emergency declarations through May 11 and then cancel them.

However, according to the statement, there are no restrictions whatsoever placed on individual conduct concerning COVID-19 as a result of the continuance of these emergency declarations until May 11. They don’t impose requirements for vaccinations or masks either.
