The WhatsApp Pink scam, as it is known, is gaining steam.
Police and government organizations in several states, including Mumbai, Kerala, and Karnataka, have issued warnings about the scam.
A tweet from the North Region’s cybercrime wing warned, “WHATSAPP PINK – A Red Alert For Android Users.”
The government’s cybersecurity organizations have also warned about the rise in Pink WhatsApp scams.
Scammers and hackers are targeting WhatsApp users with bogus messages via the network in this scam.
According to reports, the message contains a link directing users to download WhatsApp Pink, a bogus messaging program.
The Mumbai Police Department has issued a public warning regarding this WhatsApp message known as “Pink WhatsApp.” In their caution, law enforcement officials warned the public about the latest fraud spreading on the site. The importance of not clicking the link or downloading the associated program has been highlighted.
According to the advice, “the news about ‘New Pink Look WhatsApp with extra features’ that has recently circulated among WhatsApp users is a hoax that can lead to hacking of your mobile through malicious software.” It is fairly uncommon for fraudsters to devise new tricks and methods to entice naive consumers into falling into their trap and committing cyber fraud. It is the users’ responsibility to be Aware, Alert, and Attentive to these types of frauds in order to be safe and secure in the digital world.”
