There are winter storm warnings in force for the Smokies, portions of western North Carolina, and the mountains in East Tennessee until Saturday morning (14 January 2023).
In the highest elevations above 4,000 feet, snowfall totals may vary from 4 to 6 inches. Southwest Virginia is under a winter weather advisory until Saturday (14 January 2023). There will be an extra 1 to 2 inches of snow in those locations.
Hence, residents of these areas are advised to remain vigilant and exercise caution.
