The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for heavy rain across parts of Lancashire, which is set to impact eastern areas, including Rossendale, Burnley, Nelson, Colne, and Barnoldswick, starting at midnight on Thursday (26 September). The alert comes into force at midnight tonight and lasts for 24 hours.
Forecasters predict up to 70mm of rain in these areas, with potential for flooding homes and businesses. Travel disruptions are likely, and there is a slight risk of power cuts and service interruptions.
The warning extends beyond Lancashire, affecting areas in Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Yorkshire, the North East, and the East Midlands. The Pennines and North York Moors could see even heavier rainfall, accumulating between 80-100mm throughout the day. Residents are advised to take precautions, especially in flood-prone regions.
