A fake website in the name of SBI (State Bank Of India) has been set up by fraudsters. Some people who searched for it received a link titled credit card and KYC Update. People who clicked on this link and entered their information had funds removed from their accounts.
According to the police, thugs are defrauding customers via the bogus SBI website. Police have warned people to exercise caution anytime they visit such a website. People who pay attention to this can avoid becoming victims of scams.
SBI operates two websites: www.sbi.co.in for corporate information and www.onlinesbi.com for Internet banking.
What safeguards should be put in place?
1. Never ever click on a link in a social media communication.
2. To access the bank’s website, enter the whole URL.
3. Determine whether or not https is used in the web address of the bank’s website.
4. If the URL is merely http without the ‘s’, do not use this portal.
5. Do not give out your banking information to anyone.
6. The bank never requests an OTP.
7. If you suspect fraud, call the Government of India’s helpline at 1930.
8. You can make a complaint about any form of cyber fraud at http://cybercrime.gov.in.
