According to the reports on Friday (22 November), as November ends, North India has yet to experience severe cold, though fog and pollution have made mornings challenging, particularly in Delhi-NCR. The recent snowfall in hilly areas has brought colder conditions to the plains, with visibility significantly reduced due to dense fog. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for various weather events, including heavy rain in the Nicobar Islands and fog in Punjab, Haryana, and eastern Uttar Pradesh.
The IMD predicts heavy rain at different places in the Nicobar Islands from Friday (22 November) to Sunday (24 November), and dense fog in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Haryana from Friday (22 November) to Tuesday (26 November). Northeast states like Meghalaya are expected to see hailstorms, while lightning may occur in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. Wind speeds in the southern Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea may reach 55 kmph, prompting advisories for fishermen to avoid these areas.
Southern India will experience light to moderate weekly rains, with heavy rain anticipated over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Kerala. Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema may face very heavy rainfall on November 26 and 27. Scattered thunderstorms and lightning are also expected in Kerala and Mahe, further intensifying the weather challenges in these regions.
The IMD has emphasized light to moderate fog in parts of eastern India over the next two days, which may disrupt visibility in these areas. With the delayed arrival of harsh winter, North India continues to grapple with pollution and fog-related issues, while various parts of the country brace for rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds. Authorities have advised necessary precautions to mitigate weather-related disruptions.
