Early on Monday, (15 July), a cowardly attempt by terrorists to attack Bannu Cantonment was thwarted by the swift response of security forces. At approximately 4:40 am (local time), terrorists detonated a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (IED) near the outer wall of Bannu Cantonment and the supply depot. The explosion aimed to breach the secure area but was effectively neutralized by security measures.
In a separate incident earlier, a police vehicle narrowly escaped an attempted explosive blast attack in Torka Bazaar, Bannu. The device, planted near Akhoondan Sorani, detonated prematurely, preventing any damage or casualties. No injuries or damage were reported in either incident.
