According to the reports on Thursday (13 March), Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), a militant group active along the Afghan-Pakistani border, launched a major suicide attack on the Jandola military base in Tank District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The assault began with a powerful vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) detonation, which caused significant damage to the military facility. Following the explosion, TTP fighters infiltrated the base, leading to intense clashes with Pakistani military personnel stationed inside.
The violent confrontation continued for hours, with reports indicating that dozens of Pakistani soldiers lost their lives in the attack. Despite the heavy fighting, TTP militants remained inside the military base, intensifying their assault. The situation has drawn attention to the ongoing security challenges posed by militant groups operating in the region.
Security forces managed to thwart the terrorist attack on a checkpoint in the Jandola area. The attackers were met with a swift response from Pakistani troops, who neutralized all threats and killed 10 militants during the operation. This successful counterattack prevented any further breaches of the security post and showcased the readiness of Pakistani forces to protect the region.
The events highlight the persistent threat of militancy in Pakistan’s border regions and underscore the importance of continued vigilance by security forces. The Pakistani military’s rapid and decisive response to both the suicide attack and the checkpoint assault reflects its commitment to ensuring regional stability and countering militant activities effectively.
